He wanted what I wasn’t

He wanted what I wasn’t . By Ahonyi Lily.

I knew he wanted a brown beautiful girl for a wife.
He wanted a teacher.
He wanted a short, thick girl for a wife.
And there I was, not short, not thick.
I was dark and beautiful.
I was his girlfriend.
But I was a journalist.
He wanted what I wasn’t as a girlfriend.
I wasn’t his type.
And however how much I wanted to keep him for myself,
However how much I needed him to stay,
I couldn’t hang onto him.
He was hanging onto her.
Maybe chasing after his type.
I wasn’t his type.
